Dr. Michael Timothy Gocke brings more than 15 years of experience to his work as an oral surgeon and aesthetic practitioner. He cares for a variety of patients’ needs, including wisdom teeth removal, tooth restoration with dental implants, and corrective jaw surgery. He also offers McLean patients a range of cosmetic solutions, focusing on facial rejuvenation and enhanced aesthetics.

As an oral surgeon, Dr. Gocke is committed to offering patients alternatives to potentially addictive opioid drugs, commonly used for pain management following procedures. Through consultation, he educates patients about options such as EXPAREL®, a long-lasting, non-opioid pain control product that he frequently introduces during treatment. Limiting exposure to opioids is particularly important in protecting young patients who come to him for wisdom teeth removal.
Throughout treatment, Dr. Gocke spends extensive time helping those in his care understand what to expect and answering any questions that they may have. He takes the time to build personal and lasting relationships with everyone he works with including his fellow referring physicians and dentists, but most importantly his patients. During procedures, patients can take advantage of a variety of amenities for a more comfortable visit. Dr. Gocke is certified to provide IV sedation in-office and has performed more than 5,000 anesthesia-based procedures in his career.
Education And Training
Dr. Gocke’s professional preparation includes the completion of several prestigious educational programs. After graduating from West Virginia University’s School of Dentistry, he did his residency at the University of Texas Southwestern, Dallas. He was then named chief resident of the oral and maxillofacial surgery program at Parkland Memorial Hospital.
The superb training that Dr. Gocke received as a specialist provided him experience in the full range of oral and maxillofacial surgeries. Throughout his career, he has expanded the scope of his experience to include more advanced procedures, techniques, and technologies.
Specialty training not only prepared Dr. Gocke for his work as an oral surgeon but also provided him with an in-depth understanding of facial aesthetics and anatomy. Patients benefit from this training through Dr. Gocke’s work in facial rejuvenation and reconstructive procedures.

He is the past chairperson and a current member of oral and maxillofacial surgery for INOVA Fairfax Hospital, and he also provides oral and facial trauma care for the athletic departments at Langley High School and McLean High School.
In The Community
One of Dr. Gocke’s favorite parts of being an oral surgeon and aesthetic practitioner is being able to serve the community and develop long-lasting relationships with patients. Outside of the practice, he is involved in a variety of activities, from sitting on the board of the McLean Youth Association to providing underserved populations in Northern Virginia with dental treatment.
Pro bono contributions by Dr. Gocke and his staff have allowed patients throughout the world to live a higher quality of life. Through his work with World Mission Partners, he has provided free oral and maxillofacial surgery for patients who otherwise would be unable to receive care. His travels on behalf of the non-profit have taken him and his staff to the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica to provide treatment.
In addition to his work as an oral surgeon, Dr. Gocke loves spending time with his wife and his four children. He also enjoys being active and can often be found on the golf course, playing basketball, or on the ski slopes.
