For a consultation with any of our oral surgeons, contact Virginia Advanced Surgical Arts’ McLean office at
(703) 388-2805, Reston office at (571) 595-3223, or Leesburg office at (703) 723-5366.
Your initial appointment will consist of a consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options.
Our oral surgeons are well-versed in the latest techniques in maxillofacial and cosmetic surgery. They will do their best to help you understand and answer any questions you may have regarding your diagnosis and prescribed treatment. We believe in the “Team Approach” to patient care. The patient and the doctor should act as a team when deciding on the appropriate treatment. Communication is essential for a favorable outcome.
Our oral surgeon will discuss your concerns, goals and expectations before recommending a treatment plan. After identifying the treatment plan, Drs. Vigliante, Gocke or McAdams will then discuss the procedures in detail, along with the recovery period of each procedure.
At Virginia Advanced Surgical Arts, our goal is to educate our patients on their options and assist them in making a well-informed decision. The consultation appointment is scheduled for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Occasionally, surgery can be performed the same day as the consultation. However, a complex medical history or treatment plan will require an evaluation and a second appointment to provide treatment on another day.
Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:
Your surgical referral slip and any X-rays if applicable
A list of medications you are presently taking
If you have medical or dental insurance, bring the necessary completed forms. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.
IMPORTANT: All patients under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation visit.
A pre-operative appointment is mandatory for patients undergoing IV or general anesthesia for surgery. We will inform you if this will be necessary for your scheduled procedure. This appointment is scheduled for 2 weeks prior to the surgical procedure.
At this appointment, the treatment plan will be verified, consents will be reviewed and completed, prescriptions given, pre-operative photos taken, post-operative instructions explained, fees collected, lab work reviewed, and patient questions will be answered completely.
Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, heart murmurs, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are currently taking any medication or vitamin and herbal supplements (i.e. heart medications, insulin, aspirin, blood-thinners (Coumadin; Plavix), Gingko Bilova, Vitamin E, etc.)
X-Rays
If your dentist or physician has taken x-rays, you may request that they forward them to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick them up and bring them to our office. If additional films are necessary, they can be taken at our facility.
