Our board-certified oral surgeons at Virginia Advanced Surgical Arts have created a child-friendly environment that offers a compassionate and safe setting for any child undergoing oral surgery at our office.
Dr. Vigliante, Dr. Gocke, Dr. McAdams, and Dr. Thomas are also highly skilled in diagnosing many conditions affecting teeth, jaw, and facial bones.
Our oral & maxillofacial surgeons offer a wide variety of pediatric oral surgery procedures, such as:
Dental extractions
Exposure of unerupted teeth
Impacted teeth
Labial or lingual frenectomies (tongue-tied)
Facial trauma (facial lacerations, fractured bones, and displaced teeth)
What sedation options do you offer for
children?
The safety of our patients is our number one priority. Choosing the best sedation option for your children will be based on the patient’s behavior, medical history, and age. These options are thoroughly discussed among our oral surgeons and the patients’ parents to ensure the best course of treatment.
We the following sedation options for children:
Local anesthetic
Nitrous oxide (laughing gas)
IV anesthesia
General anesthesia
In addition to offering in-office procedures with the assistance of a CRNA who applies anesthesia, our surgeons can also perform surgery at Inova McLean Ambulatory Surgery Center and Inova Fairfax Hospital.
In addition to his extensive training in oral and maxillofacial surgery, Dr. Gocke is PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certified. Our assistants also have several years of experience working with infants and children at pediatric dental offices. We vow to safeguard their smiles as if they were our children.
