Questions You Should Ask Before Laser Mole Removal

Moles can be a source of both physical discomfort and aesthetic distress. At Virginia Advanced Surgical Arts, our team provides laser mole removal services to help you feel better and look your best. Our med spa is the perfect place to find relief from the bothersome moles that may be disrupting your life.

If you are considering laser mole removal, ask yourself these key questions first.

Am I Getting My Mole Removed for Cosmetic Concerns?

If you want to remove a mole for cosmetic purposes, scheduling your initial consultation is the first step. If you suspect your mole may be cancerous, you need to have it evaluated by a medical professional before taking further steps; a biopsy or excision may also be necessary.

Did I Schedule Enough Time for Treatment?

A laser mole removal procedure is more intensive than other forms of mole removal. This means you will not need as many treatments as alternative options, but you will still need to return for several sessions.

Each session will take about 20 minutes to complete. Before scheduling your appointments, make sure that you have enough time in your schedule and book your sessions accordingly.

Am I Ready to Go Through Recovery?

While laser mole removal is a non-invasive outpatient procedure, a slight recovery process is still involved. This short and minimal recovery allows most people to return to their normal activities.

In general, small moles that are removed with a simple shaving procedure can heal within a week or two, allowing you to return to your normal activities shortly after the procedure. However, larger or deeper moles that require stitches or other more invasive procedures may take several weeks to heal.

You must carefully follow any post-operative instructions, including avoiding direct sunlight and irritating the treatment area.

Do I Have a Medical History that Would Complicate Treatment?

Laser mole removal is a medical procedure, which means underlying health concerns may complicate the process. Before scheduling your laser mole removal, consider any existing medical conditions that may impact your ability to have this treatment.

You will need to share any allergies or relevant medical history with Dr. Gocke before your treatment so that he can customize the procedure to meet your needs.
